About the Platform

What is the QCTLC Digital Platform?

The QCTLC digital platform is an integrated visitor and track-management solution that supports the complete journey from pass discovery and purchase to on-track navigation, safety monitoring and environmental education.

Visitors can purchase passes through the website or mobile application, save them to digital wallets, explore routes and locations, receive safety notifications, report track issues and learn about the surrounding geography, history, plants and wildlife.

The platform also provides dedicated tools for in-person vendors, website integration partners, staff members and administrators. A secure partner API allows approved businesses to sell QCTLC passes directly through their own websites while QCTLC maintains centralized control over pricing, bookings, customer records and pass issuance.

Platform Ecosystem

Connecting Visitors, Partners and Track Operations

Qctlc serves three distinct user types, each with their own dashboard, workflows, and revenue opportunities.

Hotel Booking Platforms

Walkers and Cyclists

Visitors can discover track information, purchase passes, access digital passes, navigate routes, view nearby points of interest, report issues and learn about the environment through the website and mobile app.

Tour Activity

In-Person Vendors

Approved resellers can book passes on behalf of customers, manage sales activity, view customers and access monthly invoices through a dedicated vendor interface.

Property Inventory

Website Vendors

Integration partners use secure API credentials to retrieve passes, validate registrations and sell QCTLC passes directly through their own websites.

Hotel Booking Platforms

Staff Members

Staff can access operational sections according to their assigned permissions, review incident reports, manage track information, communicate with visitors and support daily track operations.

Tour Activity

Platform Administrators

Administrators manage passes, vendors, customers, orders, routes, content, coupons, surveys, notifications, incidents, payments, staff permissions and platform settings through a centralized dashboard.

The Challenge

Unifying Visitor Access, Safety and Conservation Operations

Managing a 70-kilometre track crossing privately owned land involves much more than selling visitor passes. QCTLC needed to coordinate online and partner sales, provide visitors with reliable track information, manage environmental content, support safety reporting and maintain operational visibility across multiple stakeholders. The platform also needed to serve visitors in areas where mobile connectivity may become limited while providing third-party businesses with a secure way to sell passes through their own digital channels.

QCTLC Digital Platform Features
QCTLC Platform Benefits

01

Fragmented pass distribution
Passes needed to be sold through the public website, mobile app, in-person vendors and external partner websites without creating disconnected booking records.

02

Partner integration
Website vendors required secure APIs, credentials and documentation to sell passes independently while keeping bookings synchronized with QCTLC.

03

Visitor navigation and safety
Walkers and cyclists needed access to routes, evacuation paths, location information and incident-reporting tools while travelling along the track.

04

Environmental education
The platform needed to make information about local wildlife, plants, history and geography accessible at relevant points throughout the visitor journey.

05

Multi-role administration
Customers, vendors, website vendors, staff and administrators all required different workflows and controlled levels of system access.

06

Digital pass accessibility
Visitors needed to access passes through printable PDFs and mobile wallets without relying solely on account access or email connectivity.

Our Solution

One Ecosystem for the Complete Track Experience

We developed an integrated web and mobile platform that combines pass commerce, third-party distribution, visitor navigation, safety reporting and conservation-focused content. The solution supports the experience before, during and after a track visit. Visitors can purchase and manage passes, explore route information and receive operational updates, while administrators and partners manage bookings, content, incidents, vendors and track data through role-specific interfaces.

QCTLC Use Cases

Core Platform Capabilities

Online Pass Booking

Visitors can browse Day, Multi-Day and Season passes, select visit dates and quantities, apply coupons and complete purchases through account-based or guest checkout.
The platform supports Stripe, PayPal and Google Pay, with Apple Pay functionality developed and available for activation.

Digital Pass Management

Issued passes can be viewed, downloaded or printed as PDFs and added to Google Wallet or Apple Wallet for convenient mobile access.
Visitors can also access purchased passes through their website or mobile-app account.

Vendor Sales Portal

In-person vendors receive a dedicated interface for booking passes on behalf of customers, viewing sales activity, managing customer information and accessing monthly invoices.

Partner Booking API

Approved website vendors can integrate QCTLC pass sales directly into their own websites using a secure API.

The API supports:

  • Access-token generation
  • Token refreshing
  • Pass listing
  • Pass purchasing
  • Coupon application
  • Customer creation
  • Registration verification
  • Duplicate-booking prevention
  • Automated confirmation emails
  • Pass attachment generation

Partners also receive an API Keys area and public technical documentation explaining the integration process.

Interactive Trail Navigation

The Flutter mobile app displays the main track route, individual locations, fire-exit routes and the visitor’s current position.
Users can see the distance to upcoming locations and access contextual information when reaching notable areas along the track.

Environmental Education

Location-aware content introduces visitors to the track’s geography, history, plant life and wildlife.
At relevant locations, users can explore animals and birds associated with the area and record whether they saw particular species during their journey.

Safety and Incident Reporting

Visitors can report problems encountered on the track by selecting an issue category and submitting a description, photo and location.
Reports are sent to staff through the administrative system, supporting faster operational awareness and response.

Live GPS Journey Tracking

While the mobile app remains active, it periodically records the visitor’s location to build an approximate route of their daily journey.
This supports visitor safety and provides operational context when assistance or incident investigation is required.

Push Notifications

Administrators can create and send announcements or safety messages to mobile-app users.
Notifications are delivered to users’ devices and retained inside the app for later reference.

Role-Based Administration

Staff access is controlled through granular permission levels. Each staff member sees only the operational modules permitted for their role, protecting sensitive platform functionality while simplifying daily workflows.

QCTLC Digital Platform Overview

Development Process

How We Built the QCTLC Platform

01

Discovery and Operational Mapping

We analyzed the relationships between QCTLC, visitors, landowners, vendors, integration partners and operational staff to define the platform’s roles, permissions and data flows.

02

Visitor Experience Design

We mapped the complete visitor journey from learning about the track and purchasing a pass to navigating the route, discovering educational content and reporting safety issues.

03

Partner API Architecture

We designed secure token-based integrations allowing approved partners to retrieve pass information, verify registrations and complete pass sales from external websites.

04

Web Platform Development

We developed the responsive React website, booking experience, customer accounts, digital pass management, partner portals and interactive mapping functionality.

05

Mobile App Development

A cross-platform Flutter application was developed for iOS and Android, combining pass purchases, maps, location tracking, content discovery, notifications and safety reporting.

06

Backend and Administration

The Laravel backend powers bookings, payments, partner APIs, PDF generation, wallet passes, automated emails, CMS content, operational reports and role-based staff access.

07

Quality Assurance and Deployment

We tested checkout flows, partner API requests, pass generation, digital wallets, route mapping, GPS tracking, incident reporting and permission-controlled administration across web and mobile environments.
